Organic cotton
Organic cotton is grown with organic production systems and with products that have a low impact on the environment. To be defined as “organic”, a cotton must come from organic plantations that meet the following requirements:
1. The cultivated land has produced exclusively organic products for the previous three years;
2. The seed is GMO-free;
3. Chemical fertilizers, insecticides and pesticides are not used;
4. The defoliation is natural.
GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certifies that the yarns are made exclusively with organic cotton.
Supima inspects and certifies the origin of each yarn with Supima® trademark.
Verified by Oritain certifies that the yarns are scientifically traced through an accurate process based on forensic science. This makes it possible to trace the origin of the cotton and all phases of the production process.
TENCEL™
TENCEL™ cellulosic fibres of botanic origin set out a new standard of sustainability and natural comfort.
TENCEL™ branded Lyocell and Modal fibres help to maintain the environmental balance by being integrated into nature’s cycle:
- The fibres originate from the renewable raw material wood created by photosynthesis;
- The certified bio-based fibres are manufactured in an environmentally responsible production process;
- The standard fibres are certified as compostable and biodegradable and thus can fully revert back to nature.

SUPIMA®
Supima® is an Extra-Long Staple cotton known for its white, long and fine fibres. It is grown mainly in California, Arizona, Texas and New Mexico. Its distinguishing characteristics are the absence of fibre pollution, due to mechanical harvesting, and a remarkable resistance to pilling.
ICA selects only the best American Supima® cotton with characteristics of length (36 mm), resistance and fineness (3.8 Micronaire) above the standard.
